Castleberry ISD Board of Education Approves 2022-2023 Employee Compensation Plan

The Castleberry ISD Board of Education unanimously approved the 2022-2023 Employee Compensation plan at the May board meeting. The approved compensation plan includes salary increases for all employees in the district.

Teachers, librarians, and nurses (RN) who are paid on the teacher salary scale will receive a 4.8% average general pay increase for the 2022-23 school year. This results in all teachers, librarians, and nurses receiving a minimum increase of $1,900 from last year’s salary.

Employees paid on salary schedules other than the teacher salary schedule will receive a general pay increase of 4% on the midpoint of the salary range.

The district starts new teachers at a salary of $60,892 with many opportunities to earn additional income through stipends and by attending approved professional learning outside of the identified contract days.

Stipends are available for bilingual teachers who are certified and assigned to a bilingual classroom, master’s degrees, and doctoral degrees. Stipends are provided for extra-curricular sponsors and athletic coaching.

The 2022-2023 Compensation Plan included increased stipend amounts for education levels above a bachelor’s degree. Employees on the teacher salary scale will now receive a $1,250 stipend for a master’s degree – a 20% increase from the previous year, and a $1,500 stipend for a doctoral degree – a 67% increase from 2021-2022.

This July the district will pay a $1,000 one-time retention stipend to all employees returning from the 2021-2022 school year who were employed on or before January 1, 2022.

Castleberry ISD will continue to offer annual longevity pay for all employees who remain in the district for more than three consecutive years. After three years of employment, employees receive $500 (paid in December) in appreciation for their dedication to the district. This pay increases to $1,500 ($750 paid in August, $750 paid in December) after ten years of employment. The longevity pay increases incrementally based on years of service in the district.
