Castleberry High School Mariachi Los Leones headed to UIL State Mariachi Competition
Congratulations to the Castleberry High School Mariachi Los Leones for earning straight first division ratings at the UIL Region 5 Mariachi Competition! A first division rating is the highest rating an ensemble can earn at UIL Music Competitions. Earning straight first division ratings from all three of the UIL judges qualified Mariachi Los Leones for a chance to compete at the coveted UIL State Mariachi Competition for the first time in the program's history. The State UIL Mariachi Competition will be held on Saturday, February 25 at Seguin High School in Seguin ISD.
CHS Mariachi Los Leones also competed in the Fort Worth Stockshow & Rodeo Mariachi Invitational on Saturday, January 21 and earned an impressive 2nd place finish and a cash award of $1,500! They raised the bar from last year’s 3rd place performance, placing above Northside High School and just under Grand Prairie Fine Arts Academy!
CHS Mariachi Los Leones is under the direction of Mr. Juan Sigala and assisted by Mr. Jairo Salazar and Ms. Natalie Ortiz.
