On Tuesday, November 15, Castleberry ISD will host two parent information sessions for those interested in learning more about the district’s Gifted and Talented Assessment and Identification process. The meeting will be held in conjunction with Family Code Night at Castleberry Elementary.
The first session will be at 5:45 PM and the second session will start at 6:30 PM in the Castleberry Elementary library.
A gifted/talented student is a child or youth who performs at, or shows the potential for performing at, a remarkably high level of accomplishment when compared to others of the same age, experience, or environment.
Currently enrolled students in kindergarten through twelfth grades may be referred for consideration in the Gifted and Talented program. Families are not required to attend the informational meeting to refer students. To refer a student, families must complete a digital or paper form that includes parent’s permission to test and a parent survey. Referrals for consideration for the 2022-23 school year will be accepted November 14 through December 9, 2022.
Families may access referral packets online on the district’s Gifted and Talented page and in the main office of the child’s school. A GT Selection Committee will determine if a learning need exists and recommend placement based on family and teacher observations, samples of student work, and age-appropriate assessments administered to referred students.
All referral packets must be returned to your child's campus by Friday, December 9, 2022.
