Although winter is full of sniffles and chills, please remember every day your child is absent from school is a lost opportunity for learning. The district understands that illnesses still happen, and personal commitments – from travel to dentist appointments – sometimes require students to miss school. However, we ask you to please be mindful of how these hours quickly add up.

The district is committed to providing intentionally-planned, targeted instruction to all students every day to help them develop the skills they need to be successful in the world. Each day your child misses school is a day they lose out on opportunities to learn those skills and grow.

Developing good attendance habits from an early age helps children do well in school and eventually in the workplace. Good attendance matters for school success, starting as early as prekindergarten and throughout elementary school. By middle and high school, poor attendance is a leading indicator of dropout. Developing the habit of attendance prepares students for successful careers and in life. School attendance is the greatest predictor of student achievement.

Castleberry ISD encourages students to attend school regularly, except of course when they are sick. If your child is sick, please send a note regarding the absence when he or she returns, or use the district’s online absence notification form to electronically communicate the absence to the campus.

In order to encourage and reward students who regularly attend school, the district has created several attendance challenges for students to participate in! These challenges are flexible and do take into account that occasionally missing school cannot be avoided.

Castleberry ISD is excited to announce the district's Attend to Win Spring Challenges:
