Castleberry ISD Welcomes Kathryn Walker as GT Instructional Coach

Castleberry ISD is excited to announce Kathryn Walker as the district’s new Gifted and Talented (GT) Instructional Coach. Walker comes to Castleberry ISD from Mansfield ISD where she served as a teacher for the past 12 years while concurrently serving as a campus GT Specialist for the past seven years. She began her career in education in Mansfield ISD where she was first a para-educator and later an early childhood teacher.

Walker spent her youth in Clear Lake City outside of Houston. After high school she moved to the DFW area and graduated from Texas Wesleyan University. In 2018, Walker earned her Master of Education in Gifted and Talented Education from Hardin Simmons University. Throughout her career, Walker served on multiple committees including district curriculum writing, district improvement planning, and Texas Association for the Gifted and Talented (TAGT) membership involvement.

In her spare time, Walker enjoys reading and solving word puzzles. She lives with her husband of 30 years, Troy. Together, they enjoy streaming movies, dining out, and the occasional weekend getaway. They have three grown sons, Bradley, Brett and Brynnon.

Walker believes in the importance of social and emotional learning to build self-awareness and healthy relationships. She also promotes critical and creative thinking to foster the next generation of problem-solvers and innovators. Walker enthusiastically looks forward to serving the Castleberry ISD community and thanks the Board of Education for the opportunity to teach and learn in this new role.
