Qualifications

Children enrolling in pre-K must be 4 years of age on or before September 1st. Castleberry ISD's pre-kindergarten program is open to all, including those who do not meet the federal guidelines to qualify and those who reside outside the district boundaries. There is a place for all students in Castleberry ISD, however students who qualify and reside within the district boundaries will be given first priority on campus assignment.

The federal guidelines for pre-K qualification are listed below.

  • Be educationally disadvantaged (eligible to participate in the National School Lunch Program)

  • Be unable to speak and comprehend the English language

  • Be homeless

  • Be a child of an active duty member of the armed forces of the United States, including the state military forces or a reserved component of the armed forces, who is ordered to active duty by proper authority

  • Be the child of a member of the armed forces of the United States, including the state military forces or a reserved component of the armed forces, who was injured or killed while serving on active duty

  • Have ever been in the conservatorship of the Texas DFPS (foster care) following an adversary hearing


Required Documents

The following items are needed to register your child for school.

  • Parent ID (Driver's license, State ID or Consular ID)

  • Certified copy of student's birth certificate

  • Student's social security card

  • Valid immunization record

  • Current utility bill (water, gas, or electricity) or copy of a current lease agreement dated within the last three months

  • Proof of income (last two check stubs), military status, foster care, or statement of homeless living status
