Governance, Leadership, and Service to Our Community
The Castleberry Independent School District Board of Trustees is committed to ensuring that every student has access to a high-quality education that prepares them for success in college, career, and life. As locally elected representatives of the community, our seven Board members provide governance, establish the vision and priorities of the District, and serve as responsible stewards of the resources entrusted to Castleberry ISD.
Texas law establishes the Board's responsibility for governing and overseeing the school district. Texas Education Code §11.151(b) provides that:
“The trustees as a body corporate have the exclusive power and duty to govern and oversee the management of the public schools of the district.”
The Board carries out this responsibility collectively as a governing body. Individual trustees do not independently direct the day-to-day operations of the District. Rather, the Board establishes policy, adopts goals and priorities, approves the District's budget and tax rate, monitors academic and financial performance, and employs and evaluates the Superintendent of Schools.
Texas Education Code §11.1511 further establishes that the Board shall adopt a vision statement and comprehensive goals for the District and Superintendent, establish performance goals, and monitor progress toward those goals.
Working in partnership with the Superintendent, the Board maintains a clear focus on student outcomes, responsible governance, fiscal stewardship, and continuous improvement. The Superintendent and administrative team are responsible for implementing Board policy and managing the daily operations of the District.
Through thoughtful governance, transparency, and collaboration with our families, staff, and community, the Castleberry ISD Board of Trustees remains focused on its most important responsibility: creating the conditions in which every student can learn, grow, and succeed.
Meetings
The Castleberry ISD Board of Education meets once a month for Regular Board Meetings that are typically scheduled on the second Monday of each month in the board room located in the Castleberry ISD Gary S. Jones Administration Building, 5228 Ohio Garden Road, River Oaks, TX. Meeting dates and times are subject to change. Special meetings, workshops, and public hearings are scheduled as needed.
The public is welcome and encouraged to attend the meeting, which begins at 6:00 PM. Board agendas are posted at the Administration Building, and a summary of the meeting is posted on this website.
Citizens of the district should understand the process for dealing with concerns, problems, and complaints relating to the school district. Citizens should address their concerns through proper channels, beginning with the classroom teacher, then to the campus Principal, Executive Director, Superintendent, and finally the Board of Education.
