CISD STEM @ River District Students Record First Episode of New Podcast Series

FORT WORTH, TEXAS | October 13, 2022 —Castleberry ISD’s STEM @ River District students had a rare opportunity today when the team members of Wakelet, a digital curation platform, traveled to the USA from Manchester, United Kingdom, to be guests on the first episode of the student podcast series.

The Lion's Tech Tips podcast series aims to explorePodcast recording studio session all the ways Irma Marsh Middle School students use tech for good as responsible digital citizens, inside and outside the classroom. In the inaugural first episode of the series recorded today, the Lions Tech Tip crew interviewed Jamil Khalil, Founder of Wakelet, and Tisha Poncio, Digital Learning Specialist, to learn how the resource Wakelet can be used as tech for good.

“Wakelet is the EdTech party bus. What Wakelet does is provide students the opportunity to share out with the world while learning how to make good choices with the content they’re curating,” said Tisha Poncio, during the recording of the podcast.

Additionally, all CISD STEM @ River District students heard from Jamil Khalil, Founder of Wakelet, about how he came up with the idea to create the online curation tool that is now used world-wide. Castleberry ISD students have access to the free online resource and are encouraged to create their own portfolio, work on group projects, and much more, all while utilizing tech for good.


ABOUT WAKELET

Wakelet is a free, online, content curation platform that was born from a need to bookmark, organize, and share links and web-content in meaningful, visually-attractive, digital portfolios. Users of Wakelet can save links, social media posts, videos, and images, all organized into collections that can be kept for private use or shared publicly. Users can add notes to each item to tell a story, ask questions, or give directions. Collections can be organized on scrollable pages according to the user’s preference in linear, thumbnail, or grid layouts. Wakelet pages can be viewed on the site or the mobile app and can also be exported as a PDF file.
