Castleberry ISD Announces Kerissa Bearce Principal of Irma Marsh Middle School

Castleberry ISD is pleased to announce the promotion of Kerissa Bearce as Principal of Irma Marsh Middle School, effective immediately. Bearce has been with Castleberry ISD since July 2019 serving as Assistant Principal and was named Interim Principal of Irma Marsh Middle School in May. Ms. Bearce is a proud graduate of Castleberry High School and River Oaks community member.

She began her career by working in New Tech Network schools at Akins New Tech High School and Eastside Memorial Green Tech High School. After obtaining her Master's Degree in Educational Technology from Texas State University in 2011, she began working for the New Tech Network as a School Development Coach. She was able to travel across the country, training new schools on the project-based learning model for success in their implementation.

After she became an aunt, she moved back to River Oaks and started as an Instructional Technology Coach for Grapevine-Colleyville ISD in August of 2013. She worked in all of the GCISD schools model teaching, mentoring, and leading PLCs. She co-wrote curriculum for the middle school computer science courses as well as helped lead the initial efforts in elementary Computer Science and Hour of Code. From 2015-2021 she also served as a Code.org Facilitator, training elementary teachers across Texas to teach coding. During her career, she has presented at SXSW Interactive, SXSWEdu, ISTE, and Region 11.

Outside of work, she loves to solo travel, and would like to experience all the National Parks our country has to offer. She recently hiked the highest peak in Texas at Guadalupe Mountains National Park. She is also an avid reader, cross stitcher, and home DIY-er.
Ms. Bearce would like to thank the board and all of Castleberry ISD for the opportunity to lead Irma Marsh Middle School. Ms. Bearce believes in teaching that engages, technology that enables, and a culture that empowers and cannot wait to carry the banner for IMMS by representing the school that raised her.
