Castleberry ISD is excited to announce Catherine Wohl as the district’s new Secondary English Language Arts Coordinator. Wohl comes to CISD from Clear Creek ISD where she served as Secondary English Language Arts Instructional Coach for the past five years. She began her educational career in Clear Creek ISD, teaching 5th grade ELA and Social Studies. Several years later, she transferred to League City Intermediate where she taught 7th grade ELA, served as the ELA department leader and sponsored cheerleading. From 2008-2013, Ms. Wohl taught 6th and 8th grade ELA at Canyon Ridge Middle School in Leander ISD and helped pilot and implement the district’s Standards Based Grading initiative.
Wohl became an ELA and Social Studies Instructional Coach at C.D. Fulkes Middle School in Round Rock, Texas. Ms. Wohl moved back to the Houston-Clear Lake area in 2015 and rejoined CCISD, teaching English I at Clear Falls High School and most recently serving as a campus-based instructional coach at Westbrook and League City Intermediate Schools. One of her proudest accomplishments is being a member of small, but mighty intermediate ELA coaching team that led and supported ELA teachers as they transitioned from teacher-centered instruction to student-centered instruction through the implementation of the Reading and Writing Workshop Model of Instruction in their classrooms.
Wohl graduated from the University of Houston-Clear Lake with a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in Reading and Geography. In 2013, Wohl earned her Master’s Degree in Educational Administration.
Wohl has been married to her husband, Brian, for five years. They have two dogs and two cats and enjoy spending their free time fishing and watching true crime TV shows.
Wohl is dedicated to her own personal and professional growth in order to continuously improve and hone her craft as a reader, writer, and educational leader. She is passionate about helping students become proficient readers, writers, and thinkers and ultimately effective communicators who are prepared and equipped for success in school, life, and work in the 21st century.
