The Texas Education Agency has shared that the 2020-2021 School Year is likely to include short-term disruptions to instruction due to COVID-19 outbreaks. Therefore, TEA has challenged school districts to create a school calendar with intersessional breaks in case there is a need to stop the spread of the virus. In addition, TEA has provided guidelines for districts to participate in the Additional Days School Year (ADSY) to adjust for learning loss as a result of the disruption in the 2019-2020 school year.

Castleberry ISD reviewed the traditional calendar and created a new school calendar that anticipates short-term disruptions and meets the guidelines to provide ADSY school days on Saturdays and during the month of June. While ADSY will not be mandatory for all students, many students who have fallen behind academically will be required to attend for part of the day.

The new intersessional calendar provides remote learning time in the event of COVID-19 related closures along with taking advantage of the additional learning opportunities provided by the ADSY Program.
