Castleberry ISD is excited to announce Duran Johnson II as Assistant Principal at Castleberry High School. A veteran teacher bringing more than 14 years of experience to CISD, Johnson comes most recently from Fort Worth ISD where he served as lead Algebra I and Visual Arts teacher for the past 3 years.
Upon graduating high school in St. Louis, he attended Grambling State University. After receiving his bachelor’s degree, he worked in social work at a Methodist children’s home. It was there Johnson found his passion for ensuring a quality and stable environment for children’s social and emotional state to ensure growth and learning for students. Johnson attended the University of Louisiana in Monroe receiving his Master of Art in teaching. After teaching in Louisiana, he moved to continue in education and campus leadership roles as needed by his campus administration in Tennessee, Mississippi and Texas.
During his time in the classroom, Johnson worked to demonstrate growth in students in both tested and non-tested subject areas. Teaching in four different states has developed a vast range of skills and opportunities for leadership roles amongst schools and in districts that has widened his perspectives on cultivating student-driven learning environments, implementing systems to ensure quality teacher support, and taking high initiatives to go out of his way using all his resources to provide his colleagues with support and mentorship.
Johnson and his wife Ebony, also an educator, have been married for 18 years and have devoted countless hours to students by building support systems for families in need. His work ethic and foundational principles are founded in his faith.
Johnson and his wife strive to provide mentorship and support for the students and parents they serve. He is honored to serve the students, staff, and community as the new Assistant Principal at Castleberry High School.
