She earned a Master of Education in Educational Leadership through Concordia University Chicago in Illinois. Additionally, she has completed several certifications in structured teaching and behavior intervention for students.
For the first part of her career, Burnett served as a special education teacher. After completing her master’s degree, she began serving as an administrator for special education in public education. Burnett has presented at national and state level conferences, specifically in the area of purposeful inclusion for students with disabilities.
Her greatest joy is spending time with her family and her three grandchildren. Her love of travel has continued throughout her life, traveling to Europe, China and Israel.
