Castleberry ISD Welcomes Marcey Cogar Secondary Science Coordinator

Castleberry ISD is excited to announce Marcey Cogar as the district’s new Secondary Science Coordinator. Cogar comes to Castleberry ISD from Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD where she served as a science teacher, department chair, and district instructional leader for the past nine years. She began her career in education in the private sector in New York where she was a science teacher. 

Marcey is from Newburgh, New York. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from the State University of New York College at New Paltz, and a Master’s Degree in Secondary Science Education from Mount Saint Mary College. Marcey was named the Secondary Teacher of the Year in Eagle-Mountain Saginaw ISD in 2019, and was also the recipient of an award from Region 11 Teacher of the Year for her essay on the importance of fostering relationships with students.

Marcey is a mother of three and a wife of 25 years. She and her husband, Joe, have two daughters and one son. Their oldest, Kathryn, is a top graduate from Texas Tech University and is an Assistant Band Director for Garland ISD. Their daughter, Leah, is currently studying Environmental Science at A&M in Corpus Christi. Their son, Gavin, is a rising sophomore. In her spare time, Marcey enjoys spending time with her family, watching true crime, and enjoying time outdoors.  

Marcey possesses an infectious spirit for teaching and continuous learning. She is dedicated to educating the whole child through a relationship-driven, exploratory, and inquiry-based approach. Marcey is excited to work collaboratively with, and provide support to, the science teachers as they work toward the common goal of ensuring student success. Marcey would like to thank the Board for the opportunity to serve the students and teachers of Castleberry ISD.
