Castleberry ISD is thrilled to announce the promotion of Abigail Armenta as the district’s new Secondary Academic and Instructional Mentor. Armenta has served the Castleberry Independent School District for the past five years as a Reading Interventionist at Irma Marsh Middle School, in addition to coaching cheerleading at Castleberry High School. Immediately following college, she began her career in education here at Castleberry ISD and has worked diligently to implement successful interventions for middle school students along with growing the Castleberry ISD cheer program.
Her educational background includes an associate degree from Lee College, Bachelor’s Degree from Texas State University, and she is starting the journey of obtaining a Master’s Degree from the University of North Texas.
Armenta comes from a small town in Southeast Houston, where her immediate family resides. She and her fiance, Aden Slay, have three dogs, Shiner, Ramsay, and Blue, who make up their family. In addition to her love for traveling, Armenta enjoys spending time with her friends and family and embarking on spontaneous adventures.
Armenta is thankful the Board of Education and Castleberry ISD have provided an opportunity to strive towards her career goals in educational leadership. She appreciates working for a district that believes in fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and reflective practice. Armenta is eager to embark on this new role as an academic and instructional mentor where she can continue her own professional growth while also fostering a vibrant and supportive learning environment for both students and fellow educators.
