Castleberry ISD Prepares for Winter Weather

As winter weather precipitation is forecasted for later this week, Castleberry ISD is taking proactive steps to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff while maintaining a conducive learning environment. On Monday, the district activated its comprehensive plan to address potential challenges posed by inclement weather and ensure effective communication.

Safety and Maintenance Preparations

Castleberry ISD’s auxiliary operations team has been hard at work. Bus drivers performed preventative maintenance checks on all buses–checking start/stop functionality, fluid levels, and tire pressure–to ensure safe transportation during winter weather. Additionally, maintenance crews have inspected classrooms and school facilities to confirm they remain warm and conducive to learning, providing a comfortable environment for students and staff alike during the colder weather.

Leadership and Decision-Making

Each morning before dawn, Castleberry ISD’s leadership team will review weather conditions, consult with other Tarrant County superintendents, and carefully evaluate the safety of travel for students and staff. A decision regarding any school delays or cancellations will be made by 5 AM and promptly communicated to all stakeholders.

Communication Through ParentSquare

ParentSquare, the district’s primary communication platform, will be used to notify families of any changes to the school schedule. In the event of a change to the district's normal schedule, an urgent alert will be sent as a text message, email, and automated phone call to ensure all parents and employees are informed quickly and efficiently.

Parents are encouraged to check with their friends and neighbors who have children enrolled at Castleberry ISD to confirm they received this important message. If a parent is not receiving notifications, they should contact their child’s campus data management specialist (DMS) and request to update their contact information (phone number and email) in Skyward Family Access. This ensures the district’s records are accurate and all families remain informed.

Working Together for Safety

Castleberry ISD prioritizes the safety of students and staff through a decision-making process guided by collaboration with district leaders and neighboring Tarrant County school districts. This approach ensures the best possible outcomes as winter weather conditions potentially impact our community.
