Castleberry High School Art Teacher Awarded Classroom Grant

Congratulations to Jazmin Gonzales, a first year art teacher at Castleberry High School.

Gonzalez applied for and received a First Year Teacher Grant from the Texas Cultural Trust. According to the TX Cultural Trust website, "The Texas Cultural Trust recognizes the critical importance of providing quality arts education to every child. The First Year Teacher Grant is designed to support highly qualified arts teachers in providing quality arts education access to Title 1, rural, low arts access communities."

The First Year Teacher Grant awards grantees a one-time grant in the amount of $1,500. This grant is intended to help alleviate costs associated with completing the first year as a teacher and can be used to fund additional professional development for the teacher, classroom enrichment, school supplies, field trips, and additional resources to enhance the quality of arts education.

Ms. Gonzalez graduated from TCU with a BFA in Art Education in 2022. She teaches Art 1 (grades 9-12) at CHS. Ms. Gonzalez says, “I am thrilled to receive this grant and plan to use it to expand the opportunities for my art students here at CHS!”
