The end of the 2019-2020 school year has been full of unexpected events. However, one annual tradition stands fast: the announcement of the Castleberry High School Valedictorian and Salutatorian. Each year, the top two academic students at CHS are honored for their outstanding achievements and this year is no different. Congratulations to Arnoldo C., the 2019-2020 Valedictorian and Oscar D., the 2019-2020 Salutatorian for Castleberry High School.

portrait of Arnoldo in his graduation regaliaArnoldo is the son of proud parents Arnoldo and Maria and has attended Castleberry schools his entire academic career, participating in a wide variety of Fine Arts, sports, and academic activities.

Arnoldo’s musical talents as a trumpet player benefited the CHS Mighty Lion Marching Band, where he traveled to the State Marching competition in 2016 and 2018. He was a member of the Varsity Concert Band and Jazz Band, where he earned an Outstanding Musician Award at the 2018 Temple College Jazz Festival. Arnoldo was Castleberry’s first Mariachi Band member to make All Region and earned a place in the Honors Mariachi Band at the Fort Worth ISD Mariachi Spectacular competition. He was also part of a trio that won a new trumpet when he and fellow trumpeters Aidan Casarez and Rodrigo Romero won first place in a Trumpet Wars Competition hosted by Trumpets4Kids.

In addition to his musical achievements, Arnoldo was on the Varsity Tennis Team and was the Historian for the new CHS Esports Team. His impressive list of academic accomplishments includes membership in National Honor Society, and participation in Onramps Geoscience, Onramps Computer Science, Onramps College Algebra, Onramps Rhetoric, and Onramps US History. Arnoldo plans to attend the University of Texas at Austin but has not decided on his major.

Oscar has enjoyed his time in the CHS Mighty Lion Marching Band, the Honor Band, and Symphonic Band. He played Football as a Freshman and has participated in a wide variety of academic and extra-curricular activities including DECA, Student Council, National Honor Society, Computer Science UIL, OnRamps Computer Science, OnRamps Rhetoric, OnRamps Algebra, OnRamps History, and OnRamps Physics.

Oscar has also excelled in advanced academic classes including AP Computer Science, AP World History, Dual-Credit British Literature, and Dual-Credit Macroeconomics.Oscar hopes to attend the University of North Texas in the fall.

Castleberry ISD congratulates these two outstanding young men and wishes them every success as they continue their education.
