Castleberry ISD Welcomes Scott Runyan as Principal of Castleberry High School

Castleberry ISD welcomes Scott Runyan as the district’s new principal of Castleberry High School. Runyan joins Castleberry ISD from Fort Worth ISD, where he most recently served as principal of Arlington Heights High School for the past year. He began his career in education 15 years ago as an English teacher in Fort Worth ISD.

He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Oklahoma and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Texas Christian University in 2011. His educational background reflects a continued commitment to professional growth, effective school leadership and student success.

Runyan brings a strong record of leadership and measurable achievement as a seasoned campus leader to Castleberry ISD. He previously served as principal of D. McRae Elementary School, where he led campus efforts that significantly improved student performance and helped move the school from an F rating to a B rating. In his most recent role at Arlington Heights High School, he helped increase the campus’ CCMR rating from 89% to 95% and oversaw academic growth in Algebra, Biology and English I.

Outside of work, Runyan and his wife, English, who also works in education, enjoy raising their three children, Edward, 9; Azalea, 6; and Emerald, 3. He also recently returned to running as a way to stay active and balanced while spending quality time with his family.

His leadership philosophy centers on the belief that education is the pathway to ensuring all students have access to opportunities after graduation. Runyan is committed to servant leadership, leading with humility and supporting both students and staff through a student-centered approach. He is grateful to the Castleberry ISD Board of Education for the opportunity to serve and looks forward to supporting Castleberry High School students, staff and the greater Castleberry ISD community.
