Advanced Academics

Advanced Academics is an umbrella term that includes the differentiated services Castleberry ISD offers to its advanced and high potential learners. These services are specially designed to extend, enrich, and/or accelerate the standard school program to meet the needs of students. Advanced academic services include differentiated small groups, weekly elementary Gifted and Talented classes, Gifted and Talented/Honors classes at the middle and high school levels, Advanced Placement classes, Dual Credit, and Dual Enrollment OnRamps courses at the high school level, and subject- or grade-level acceleration at all levels.

Mission

Castleberry ISD is inspiring and empowering all students to be innovative thinkers in the global community. The mission of CISD's Advanced Academics is to create a culture of intentional excellence through rigorous and relevant instruction differentiated for all students who have the capability, potential, or motivation to access advanced academic curriculum.

Purpose

The purpose of Castleberry ISD Advanced Academics is to provide opportunities for advanced students to learn, excel, and demonstrate college and career readiness.

Advanced Academics strives to:

  1. 1. Support the potential in all students. 

  2. 2. Challenge students with advanced capabilities through differentiation and responsive instruction.

  3. 3. Respond to the  needs of advanced and high potential learners across all populations equitably.

  4. 4. Collaborate with academic content areas to enhance, develop and implement          responsive, rigorous and relevant curriculum and instruction that meets the needs of   advanced and high potential learners.

  5. 5. Research and study to understand and respond to the needs of stakeholders.

  6. 6. Provide support to schools through professional learning, materials and resources that    build teacher capacity to meet the needs of advanced and high potential learners.

  7. 7. Ensure increased, equitable participation in advanced academics through curriculum development, consistent implementation of Advanced Academic processes and        procedures, professional learning, communication with all stakeholders, participation in      state and national organizations and promoting the implementation of best practices in the field.
