Recognitions
Kara Lopez, Elementary Teacher of the Year from A.V. Cato Elementary School, was recognized for her outstanding contributions to Castleberry ISD. Ms. Lopez currently serves as the Math Inclusion Teacher at A.V. Cato Elementary School. She hopes to impact even more students next year as the campus's newly appointed Campus Academic Leader. As the district's Elementary Teacher of the Year, Ms. Lopez advances to the regional level, where one exceptional elementary teacher will be selected as the Region 11 Elementary Teacher of the Year. In recognition of this honor, Ms. Lopez received an award to proudly display in her classroom and a $1,000 cash donation from the Castleberry Education Foundation.
Kevin Martinson, Secondary Teacher of the Year from Castleberry High School, was recognized for his dedication to students and academic excellence. Mr. Martinson is a science teacher and coach who also works with retesters at Castleberry High School. As the district's Secondary Teacher of the Year, Mr. Martinson advances to the regional level, where one exceptional secondary teacher will be selected as the Region 11 Secondary Teacher of the Year. In recognition of this honor, Mr. Martinson received an award to proudly display in his classroom and a $1,000 cash donation from the Castleberry Education Foundation.
Castleberry ISD schools stood out across several highly competitive categories, including Elementary School, Middle School, High School, Place to Work, and Education/Tutoring Services. The 2026 results also mark a milestone for Castleberry ISD: All six of the district’s traditional schools have now earned at least one DFW Favorites recognition.
Dr. Nikki McDorman, TLI Elementary Coordinator, recognized the 2025–2026 Science Fair winners, as well as students who advanced to the Regional Science Fair and qualified for the State Science Fair.
Luciana T. was the 4th Grade First Place Winner, and Ana O. was the 5th Grade First Place Winner, both from A.V. Cato Elementary School. Gabriella R. was named the Elementary Grand Champion and also represented A.V. Cato Elementary School.
Makynli L. and Aiden C. were named the Castleberry High School Grand Champions.
Gael D. and Bryan P. were the 6th Grade STEM First Place Winners. Yaretzi C. and Miranda Q. were the 7th Grade STEM First Place Winners. Ximena T., Maria M., and Stephanie P. were the 8th Grade STEM First Place Winners.
The Secondary Grand Champions, Regional First Place Winners, and State Science Fair Qualifiers were Charlie M., Elin S., and Ayleen G. from Irma Marsh Middle School.
Whitney Harper, Lead Elementary Coordinator, recognized the winners of the 2026 District Multiplication Contest. These students answered more multiplication facts correctly in one minute than their grade-level peers.
Christian R. was the 3rd Grade Champion from A.V. Cato Elementary School; Andrea P. was the 4th Grade Champion from A.V. Cato Elementary School; and Luciana T. was the 5th Grade Champion from A.V. Cato Elementary School.

Board Actions
- Approved the Board Minutes for the Regular Meeting held on May 4, 2026, and the Special Meetings held on May 11, 2026 and May 12, 2026.
- Approved the Castleberry ISD library books to be purchased.
- Approved the annual Broker-Dealer List in accordance with Castleberry ISD's investment policy.
- Approved the Investment Officer Training providers, including TASB, TASBO, TASA, the University of North Texas, the Government Treasurers' Organization of Texas, Region 11 Education Service Center, and Texas State University, as independent sources of instruction.
- Approved the annual review of the Castleberry Independent School District Investment Policy.
- Approved the submission of a Low Attendance Day Waiver application to the Texas Education Agency for January 7, 2026.
- Approved the proposed Compensation Plan for the 2026–2027 school year.
- Approved the 2026–2027 Professional New Hire Contracts.
- Approved Budget Amendment No. 4 for the month ending May 31, 2026.
- Approved the hiring of Scott Runyan for the position of Principal of Castleberry High School.
Presentations to the Board
- Abigail Offenbaker, Communications Coordinator, recognized Castleberry campuses that placed in the 2026 Fort Worth Star-Telegram DFW Favorites contest.
- Scott Hutchings, TLI Lead Coordinator, presented the preliminary STAAR results.
- Whitney Harper, Elementary Lead Coordinator, Becky Putney, and Kristen Schmitt, Literacy Coordinators, presented an end-of-year update on HB3 Early Literacy and Numeracy results and progress.
- Kathryn Walker, Director of Talent Acquisition and Development, presented the proposed 2026–2027 Compensation Plan.
- William Wooten, Chief Financial Officer, presented Budget Workshop V. The workshop included an overview of the ongoing budget development process for the 2026–2027 school year, including preliminary revenue assumptions, expenditure planning, and compensation priorities.
- Cameron Hollomon, Bond Program Manager, presented a construction update on the 2024 Castleberry High School Bond Program.
- William Wooten, Chief Financial Officer, provided a snapshot of 2025–2026 revenue collections and expenditures from July 1, 2025 through May 22, 2026.

- Christi Patton, Executive Director of Special Programs, provided a report on Special Education program successes, opportunities for improvement, and action items.
- Diana Colby, Teacher Librarian and CISD Lead Librarian, provided the Library Services Annual Report for the 2025–2026 school year.
- Lenny Lasher, Assistant Superintendent of Student Services, Facilities, and Operations, provided a report on the School Health Advisory Council highlighting opportunities for improvement and services provided to students, parents, and community members.

- Stacia Ryckman, Director of Fine Arts, provided an Academic UIL Report for the 2025–2026 school year.
- William Wooten, Chief Financial Officer, provided a schedule listing all checks written during the reporting period of April 21, 2026 through May 22, 2026.
