Technology ClassesTech Academy for AdministratorsThe Tech Academy for Administrators was designed to accomplish several purposes. It is a time for administrators to become familiar with Technology Plan and support teachers in using the plan. Technology integration into the core subjects is the main thrust. The Academy assists administrators as they model technology in their interactions with students and teachers. The information provided at the training supports them as they discern the technology needs of staff and students. As administrators become more proficient, they can implement activities to include parents and community members who utilize technology on their campuses. Tech Academy for TeachersTo create a framework for the integration of technology into the core curriculum as directed by the TEKS, a Tech Academy is offered for teachers during the second week of June. This class is taught by the Instructional Technologists. Although instructions for software applications are necessary for some teachers, the main focus of the Academy is to create a core lesson which seamlessly integrates technology into the instruction process. To ensure that all students have appropriate exposure to the technology TEKS, the district requirement is that all teachers will complete the Tech Academy by the completion of their third year at CISD. Just in Time TrainingsJust as the state has student expectations clearly defined in the Texas TEKS, there are also teacher competencies for technology. To support teacher growth and development with their competencies, staff development is provided as needed for administrative and instructional needs. Page last updated: 01/30/2008
