Technology Proficiencies
The Technology Professional Development Plan was created
using the technology standards for all teachers established through SBEC to
assure that all teachers have the opportunity to become technology
proficient. The plan also addresses criteria set forth in the Texas STaR
Chart Survey so that teachers and staff can strive toward scoring Target
Tech in each key area.
Modules 1-3: completed in new teacher orientation
Modules 4-11: document skill proficiency at 8th grade level
Tech Academy I: technology integration into class scope and sequence
Modules 13-24: document classroom integration for each application
Tech Academy II: creating an online classroom
The state has established expectations for teachers to
integrate technology into all teaching areas. These standards establish what
all teachers must know and what all teachers must do as they integrate
technology. The standards indicate that all teachers must show proficiencies
equal to the 8th grade Technology Applications student Texas Essential
Knowledge and Skills (TEKS.)
ISTE defines technology standards for students, teachers
and administrators. Support is provided for technology integration for
lesson planning and evaluation.
All CISD teachers and principals complete the School
Technology and Readiness survey each year which is a Teacher Tool for
Planning and Self-Assessing and is aligned with the Long-Range Plan for
Technology, 2006-2020. The district uses the results of this survey to help
in planning current and future needs of the district including staff
development, hardware, software, facilities, etc. The results are also used
to update the Technology Plan for the district.
Administrator Growth
Rubric
Based upon national and state standards, CISD has created
a growth rubric for administrators to evaluate technology
integration within the district.
