Castleberry Community Drug Free Awareness Coalition

The Castleberry Community Drug Free Awareness Coalition (CCDAC) was organized in 1998. It is a non-profit volunteer-based organization. It was created in response to the need for a community based approach to substance abuse and violence issues in our community. CCDAC believes that the involvement of our community is the key to addressing those issues. Funding for the coalition is made possible in part by the CISD Safe and Drug-Free School and Communities grant, community service organizations and private donations. CCDAC Mission Statement
Our mission is to work towards a safe and drug-free community through partnerships with families, faith-based organizations, local state and federal governmental agencies, educational institutions, and businesses; through educational efforts; empowering parents and youth. To close the doors to violence, intolerance, ignorance, and drug abuse. To provide opportunities for the youth in our community to become the best they can possibly be.

CCDAC Celebrates Red Ribbon Week

Castleberry Community Drug-Free Awareness Coalition (CCDAC) kicked off Red Ribbon Week at the Castleberry ISD Varsity football game versus Dallas Madison at the W.O. Barnes Memorial Stadium on October 25th. Members of the local Lion's Club 2E-2 distributed ribbons to all that attended in support of a pledge for a drug free life. CCDAC members gathered with community leaders for a ceremonial balloon release just prior to kick-off.

Students across the district participated the annual Lion's Club poster contest. Posters depicted "the dangers and or consequences in the use of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs." The contest winners and their families were invited to CCDAC's  Community Leaders Breakfast that took place on October 28th at the River Oaks Community Center. The breakfast, catered by Castleberry ISD Nutrition Services, is an annual tradition celebrating the community's commitment to safe and drug-free life. Castleberry's Chief of Police, Jesse Rodriguez spoke of the dangers of tobacco as a drug in our community. (For more on the dangers of tobacco, please click here.)  Pastor Doug Martin, CCDAC's president, spoke to those attending as a pastor, as an involved parent and community leader when he shared his families personal experience with addiction. Mayor Herman Earwood, CCDAC's Vice President, concluded the morning, thanking the many efforts of local law enforcement and encouraging everyone to renew their commitment to safe and drug-free community.
