On Sunday, March 17th, Castleberry High School Theatre Director, Paul Raska, learned that two of his students had earned a spot in the state UIL Theatrical Design competition.  Adam N. and Christian M. will be competing in the Division 1 Costume event on April 26th in Austin, TX.  Their unique and high-quality interpretations of characters from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory will be on display at the 7:30 PM student recognition portion of the April 8th Board of Education meeting.

On Tuesday, March 19th, the cast of the UIL One Act Play, also under the direction of Paul Raska, competed at District 9 - 4A OAP Competition.  Their show was stunning!  The Silent Sky cast took home Outstanding Tech Crew, Haleigh F. and Alejandro S. were named to the All-Star Cast, Desiree S. was named Best Actress and first place for the show.  These Castleberry High School students made history by not only earning numerous awards not previously achieved at CHS, but also advancing to the Bi-District Competition.

On Thursday, March 7th, the Irma Marsh Middle School Symphonic Band, under the direction of Mrs. Beth Banks-Baskin, performed at the UIL Concert & Sight-Reading Evaluation in Glen Rose.  The band did a fantastic job on stage, receiving a first division rating, and then repeated their success in the sight-reading room.  By earning the first division in both categories, Mrs. Banks-Baskin's band earned a UIL Sweepstakes Award.

The IMMS Honors Band, under the direction of Mrs. Jennifer Haden, performed at the same evaluation event in Glen Rose, TX.  The students gave a terrific performance, earned a first division rating, repeated their success in the sight-reading room, and also earned a UIL Sweepstakes award.

Two middle school bands earning the Sweepstakes Award has never happened in Castleberry ISD!  March 7th was truly an historical day for the middle school band program!  Congratulations to these directors and students who work many months to achieve this level of success and thank you to those who help support the program at Irma Marsh Middle School.
