The AP Program offers college level instruction to the
academically successful high school student with the option of taking an
Advanced Placement examination and possibly qualifying for college credit.
AP students are expected to work at an accelerated pace and to engage in
outside reading and independent study.
AP courses are open to students with the prerequisite
coursework along with TAKS scores and teacher recommendations. Students who
choose to enroll should be prepared for the increased academic rigor of
these courses. AP courses concentrate on providing students with rigorous
college level academic instruction while preparing students for the AP exam
associated with the course.
Pre-Advanced Placement (Pre-AP) Program
Beginning in the 6th grade Castleberry ISD offers Pre-AP
courses in language arts, science, math (in 8th grade algebra can be taken
for high school credit) and social studies.
Pre-AP courses are built on core curriculum at an
academically advanced level. These courses are aligned with AP course
descriptions generated by College Board. Students must understand and be
prepared for the increased academic rigor of these courses. Pre-AP students
are expected to engage in outside reading and independent study. Pre-AP
courses are open to students with prerequisite coursework/grades, along with
required TAKS scores and teacher recommendations.
