Summer Enrichment Program 2009

There is still space available!

Castleberry ISD is pleased to offer Summer Enrichment opportunities for children that are in grades K-11 this school year. There is something for everyone including music, art, fitness camps, writing, drama, science, math, board games and job skills for teens. Sessions will be taught by teachers from CISD and the new Tarrant County College Trinity River Campus. Come join in the fun!

For information on what sessions are currently available please contact Elizabeth Liles at (817) 252-2038. To register, please fill out the Registration Form and return to Castleberry ISD Administration Building. There is a $10.00 fee per session, payable upon confirmation of enrollment.

Additional Castleberry ISD Summer Enrichment Opportunitities

Wild About Reading

Current CISD students who have completed Kindergarten through Eighth grades are invited to participate in our summer enrichment program, Wild about Reading. This program, which will be held at both the A. V. Cato and Joy James libraries, will begin on Monday, June 8 and continue through Thursday, July 30. Students who read ten books during that time will be awarded Summer Reading Certificates and a free book at the end of the program. Students who are interested can visit the Joy James and A. V. Cato libraries and receive more information from the librarians on Monday, June 8.   In addition to the summer reading program, both libraries will offer a weekly story time for our 4-8 year old students on Wednesday mornings from 10:30 – 11:00 AM. (No registration required to attend.)  River Oaks Public Library will also host a story time on Thursdays from 10:30 - 11:30 AM.

CISD Athletics Department Offers Summer Sports Camps for Students in Grades 3 – 12

Each summer the CISD Athletic Department offers Summer Sports Camps for students.  This year's camp line-up offers a variety of opportunities for students to practice their favorite sport or just get in shape for the coming school year.  Below is the list of Summer 2009 Sports Camps:

Baseball Camp (Students entering grades 3 - 8)

Football Camp (Students entering grades 6 - 9)
Volleyball Camp (Students entering grades 5 - 9)

Castleberry High School AP English Summer Reading Symposium

All 9th -12th grade students entering Pre-AP or AP English are required to do a summer reading assignment.  Students will also attend a summer Reading Symposium session in July.  The reading symposium will prepare students to enter their advanced placement English course by introducing and discussing the summer reading novel and introducing the online classroom assignment site, SharpSchool.  Advance placement courses are college preparatory courses, and CHS is excited to support the ELA advance placement students with this summer symposium. 


Southwestern Oklahoma State University Band Camps

21st Annual Middle School Band Camp (June 28 - July 1, 2009): Any student completing grades 5-7 may attend with the signature of their parents and band director. The enrollment application with a $120.00 tuition deposit should be sent by June 15.  The deposit may be paid by check or credit card.  The deposit is refundable by written request postmarked on or before June 29. The $120.00 tuition deposit will not be refunded after that date for any reason.

54th Annual Band Camp (July 12-17, 2009): Any student completing grades 6-12 may attend with the signature of their parents and band director.  Fort Worth Museum of Science, Museum School

Classes for children ages three through five offer a natural science and history curriculum that is supported with live animals, art, music and literature. Class topics for school-age children include herpetology; geology; chemistry; weather; flight; physical science; art and more.

Summer Zoo Camps run weekly from June 9 - August 14 (excluding the week of June 29). Camps run from Monday through Friday and include a Summer Zoo Camp T-shirt, guided Zoo tours, Wild Wonders animal presentations, keeper chats, snacks, craft activities, and more.

Young Chefs Academy

Camp Can-I-Cook ® presents "SOS: Save Our Supper™. What do you do when breakfast has been bungled, your lunch is a loser, or you have a dinner dilemma? Will the rescue require a life guard, a life preserver, or a life boat? Young Chefs will work together to problem solve recipe disasters for an amusing and “blunderously” good time!

YMCA Swimming Lessons

YMCAs have been teaching people to swim for more than a century. In YMCA aquatics programs, children learn to be safe around water and they feel the sense of accomplishment that comes with learning something new. Youth progressive swimming is the YMCA's third most widely offered program nationwide. It uses a problem-solving, guided-discovery teaching approach in a positive, caring environment. Kids can develop lifelong skills that can help them stay healthy.

Fort Worth Zoo: Zoo Careers Camp

Campers entering ninth through 12th grade investigate animals and careers at the Fort Worth Zoo. The five-day resident camp is a unique opportunity for high school students to experience many occupations in a world-class Zoo. Campers learn about animal care, maintenance, training and habitat construction, accompany animal staff on daily schedules, participate in animal care activities and attend presentations by Zoo staff. This camp is designed to increase knowledge and skills about wildlife conservation, environmental and economic issues, initiatives, challenges and success stories.
