The Academic Excellence Indicator System (AEIS) pulls together a wide range of information on the performance of students in each school and district in Texas annually. This information is put into the annual AEIS reports, which are available each fall. The performance indicators are:
- Results of Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS***); by grade, by subject, and by all grades tested;
- Participation in the statewide assessment programs (TAKS/TAKS (Accommodated)/TAKS-M/TAKS-Alt);***
- Exit-Level TAKS cumulative passing rates;
- Progress of prior year TAKS failers;
- Results of Student Success Initiative;
- Attendance rates;
- Annual dropout rates (grades 7-8, grades 7-12, and grades 9-12);
- Completion rates (4-year longitudinal and 5-year longitudinal);
- College readiness indicators;
- Advanced / dual enrollment course completion;
- Completion of the Recommended High School Program or Distinguished Achievement Program;
- Participation and performance on Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) examinations;
- College-ready graduates;
- Texas Success Initiative (TSI) – Higher Education Readiness Component; and
- Participation and performance on the college admissions tests (SAT and ACT).
Performance on each of these indicators is shown disaggregated by ethnicity, special education, low income status, and limited English proficient status. The performance of at-risk students is also shown on the district, region, and state AEIS reports. In addition to the performance indicators, the reports provide extensive information on school and district staff, finances, programs, and student demographics. A new section was added to the district, region, and state reports beginning in 2008-09 that shows performance for selected AEIS indicators disaggregated by bilingual and ESL instructional models.
***Please note that no STAAR (State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness) results are shown for the 2011-12 AEIS reports, since performance standards have not been determined yet for the 3-8 STAAR assessments. Results of the spring and summer 2012 STAAR end-of-course (EOC) assessments at the state, region, district, and campus levels can be accessed online at http://www.texasassessment.com.
The
AEIS Glossary, updated annually, describes each item on the report. It provides the methodology for calculating the values on the report and clearly states the source of the data. To view the AEIS glossary, please click here.

* Please note there is not a School Report Card available for the 2011-2012 School Year.*
The School Report Card (SRC) provides a small subset of the information available in the AEIS reports. Schools with sufficient TAKS data to receive an accountability rating, charter schools, and schools that have been paired for accountability purposes will have an SRC. Schools that meet two criteria: they serve special populations of students; and, they do not have TAKS results will not have an SRC. For this reason, T.R.U.C.E. Learning Center does not have a SRC for the 2010-11 school year. For more information, or to look up another school report card, please click here.

Section 1111(h)(2) of the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) requires each local education agency (LEA) that receives Title I, Part A funding to disseminate specific LEA- and campus-level data. To meet this requirement the Texas Education Agency (TEA) provides these statistics at the state level and for each district or campus that is required. For additional details regarding the Texas NCLB Report Card please view the Glossary/Glosario (available soon), Masking Rules, or visit the TEA website by clicking here.
